Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit June 10 and 11, 2009 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 2”): The interior of this bowl is not divided into even design fields. Some of the designs are not filled in well. On the exterior, there are two line breaks in the line immediately below the rim of the bowl, which is very unusual. Because this piece was purchased from Ilfeld Trading Company in 1928, it is possible that it was commissioned and/or antiqued to make it look older than it really was. It was likely made for sale (not for household, personal, or ceremonial use in the community). Though made to resemble a ceremonial stew bowl, it should just be considered a bowl since it is unlikely it ever served this function.
