DescriptionAcoma polychrome small bowl; three-color; white slipped exterior with black and red painted decoration. The design covers the entire exterior surface and consists of an red band with black geometric motifs around it. Undecorated interior.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 9-11, 2017 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 8”): The design on this bowl extends down onto the base. The bowl is very shiny, implying that it was well burnished. It appears have been well used as the interior is tinted yellow. The rim is slightly sculpted. There is a line break at the top framing line below the rim.

NOTE: The shape of the sculpted rim on bowls may be to help prevent cracks from forming during firing and use.
