Tribal Collection Review RemarksOctavius Seowtewa during collection review visit Nov. 16 and 17, 2009 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 3”): The base of this jar is not the usual concave base; it is uneven and rounded and its surface is also poorly finished. The painting appears to have been done quickly. The jar was purchased from Ilfeld Trading Company in 1928, so it is possible that the piece was commissioned specifically for sale and not for personal, household, or ceremonial use in the community.
