Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit June 3-5, 2015 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo, Review 2”): This was woven in the manta (dress) style but embroidered in the fashion of a cape. This was more likely used as a cape than as a dress since there is no wear from where the arms would have gone had it have been worn as a dress. This style of manta/cape was only made during this period. They are no longer made in this style at Acoma. Older mantas were all black including the trimming. Today, mantas are black with red and green trimming on the top and bottom as well as along the side where the ends connect to make it a dress.
