Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit June 10 and 11, 2009 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 2”): The interior of this bowl is decorated with two unusual dragonfly motifs. They are much more detailed than traditional Zuni depictions of dragonflies. The overall interior designs and layout are odd, too. The cloud/feather design on the exterior is also unusual. Because this piece was purchased from C.G. Wallace in 1928, it is possible that it was commissioned by him and/or antiqued to make it look older than it really was. It was likely made for sale (not for household, personal, or ceremonial use in the community). Though made to resemble a ceremonial stew bowl, it should just be considered a bowl since it is unlikely it ever served this function.
