Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 11-13, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 6”): This bowl looks to be coated with a sealer that would normally be used on a green ware piece after firing (comes in various glosses). The piece would be fired again after application of the sealer. The participants are not sure if the clay and paint are natural or commercial because of the sealer. The sealer may have been applied because of the crack in the piece that extends from the rim to the center. The sealer has a network of fine cracks which is normal and typically occurs after being on the piece for a while.
