DescriptionShallow polychrome bowl with two mountain lion figures built on opposite sides of the rim. Entire bowl painted with a tan micaceous slip. The rim is painted black. Interior design is of a circle divided into four equal quadrants, with a central stepped square design composed of smaller black, white, and red squares. Circle outline formed of red triangles with white ends. Four step designs with a black diamond at the center, each flanked by a red, black, and white arrowhead shape, are evenly placed below the interior rim. The exterior rim is painted black, with small dots of tan slip. There is a wavy red design that wraps around the bowl just below the black rim. The black paint is manganese, the lighter red is made from straight iron oxide, the darker red is the iron oxide mixed with the manganese, the tan slip is mixed with a gold-colored mica, and the white is made from an unknown mineral. The piece is signed on the bottom.
