DescriptionButterfly Maiden Sculpture carved from cottonwood root. Rood has a natural three-way split at bottom, then merges into a single piece of wood, which has been carved with a pueblo scene just above the split. Above the pueblo scene, the carving is a woman depicted from the waist, up. Painting and carving create red and blue necklaces, long black hair with bangs, butterflies on each cheek, and a large, colorful tablita worn on her head. Figure mounted on a separate wooden, oval-shaped base.
