DescriptionPolychrome bowl: three-color; white slip with black and orange painted decoration. The design consists of four panels of design from rim to base; each section has diagonally placed orange and black triangles (could be mountains and clouds), and fine-lines or hatching (rain lines) .
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit February 17-19, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 5”): This bowl is made with traditional materials, including clays, slips and brushes. It is kiln fired. The artist, Dolores (Lewis) Garcia, learned designs by watching her mother, Lucy Lewis. Her designs reflect everything in nature, including rain clouds, rainbows, and rain. She no longer puts the date on her pots.
