DescriptionAko or Ashiwi polychrome jar with unusual constricted neck. White slip with black and red painted decoration; red underbody; flat base; constricted neck. The design consists of gemoetric feather motifs.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit February 17-19, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 5”): There are remains of reddish slip on the interior neck. The slip is well burnished as it is still shiny. The participants all generally agree that this jar has more Zuni features based on the painted design and the heavier construction. It was noted that Zuni representative should look at this pot to determine if its origin may be Zuni.
