Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit November 29-30, and December 1, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 7”): This figurine is handmade from traditional materials including clays and paints. It was outdoor fired which is evident in the burn marks on the bird’s head and body. It was likely made as a tourist trade item. The tail section of the bird appears to have been made by pulling clay from the body of the piece.

According to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 22-24, 2018 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 11”): Donna Chino, Anita’s niece, stated that Anita’s family raised chickens.
