DescriptionShalako resting in front of a medicine altar with two bowls of cornmeal. One bowl of cornmeal is white and has turquoise-colored flecks in it. The other bowl contains blue cornmeal.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit February 16 and 17, 2011 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 6”): The description for this painting should be changed to read “Shalako resting in front of a medicine altar with two bowls of cornmeal. One bowl of cornmeal is white and has turquoise-colored flecks in it. The other bowl contains blue cornmeal.” This is not an accurate depiction of a Shalako dancer. Some elements of the figure's dress are either missing or are depicted inaccurately. It may be made available to anyone for research, photography, and publication. It has no special handling or storage requirements.
