Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 2011 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 7”): The material used is silver. A note on the Museum of New Mexico catalog card states that the earrings were purchased by the donor in 1901 from a man at Zuni named Dick. Mr. Seowtewa and Mr. Enote explained that around that time, there was a man at Zuni called “Zuni Dick.” He was the only person at Zuni who could write in English. He made jewelry, mostly necklaces. They believe it’s possible this is the same man named Dick referred to on the MNM catalog card.
