DescriptionTall jar. White slip with black painted decoration. The design consists of feather and fine-line motifs.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit April 3-5, 2018 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 10”: This jar was made with traditional natural clay, however, the paint is commercial. The artist, Mary Ann Hampton, used to use traditional paints but transitioned to commercial paints later in her life. The temper, which is pottery sherds, can be seen in the clay. Mary’s mother, Aurelia Pasqual, also made pottery. The artist is no longer living.
