DescriptionRectangular buckle with channel inlay figure of quail in profile, four diamond motifs in corners and stamped border. Includes silver, turquoise, tortoiseshell, antler, abalone, and spiny oyster.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit December 7 and 8, 2010 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 5”): The materials used are silver turquoise, antler, abalone, spiny oyster, and tortoiseshell. Mr. Seowtewa suggested that the artist may have been Porfilio Sheyka. He was one of the few artists who used quails in his designs.
