DescriptionTwo piece dress made of heavy white cotton fabric, similar to a cotton tarp, with Pueblo embroidery designs in green and black thread. The shirt is short-sleeved and has two embroidered panels, one on either side of the opening in the front. A tag sewn to the collar reads "Authentic Indian Handmade Embroidery." The skirt would fall below the knees of the wearer. There is an embrodered panel in the middle of the front of the skirt, with the same pattern as the panels on the shirt, but repeated twice. The waist of the skirt also has a "Authentic Indian Handmade Embroidery" tag sewn to it.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksOctavius Seowtewa during collection review visit Nov. 16 and 17, 2009 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 3”): The material used appears to be the type of material used in canvas tarps. The dress looks similar to clothing made by Zuni Day School students during the 1930s.
