Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit June 10 and 11, 2009 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 2”): This canteen has a flower/rosette design on it. The loops on either side of the canteen are meant to tie a leather strap to so that it could be hung. Since a canteen would be hung so that it’s front faced forward, it is odd that this one is so worn on the front but relatively shiny and smooth on the back. The date of 1880 to 1900 may be accurate, but it is also possible that it was antiqued.
