DescriptionNecklace with Rainbow (Amidolanne) design. Central pendant and twelve smaller pendants (arranged six on either side of the necklace) all depict Rainbow (Amidolanne). Double row of commercial beads supports small pendants. The materials used are silver, spiny oyster, mother of pearl, turquoise, jet, coral and white mussel shell. The technique used is channel inlay.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit December 7 and 8, 2010 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 5”): The materials used are silver, turquoise, coral, jet, mother of pearl (not abalone), white mussel shell, and spiny oyster shell. There is a note from the 1997 Pueblo Jewelry Convocation that says the artist for this piece may have been Simplicio von Fleece. However, Mr. Seowtewa and Mr. Enote are not familiar with that name. They suggested that it might have been made by Dan Simplicio. The Zuni word for rainbow is amidolanne.
