Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit December 7 and 8, 2010 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 5”): The materials used are silver, jet, coral, turquoise, pink mussel, melon shell, mother of pearl, and leather. The tips are commercial silver tips. The pendants attached to the ends of the tips are feathers made of jet, mother of pearl, and turquoise. The current catalog description identifies the figure as a Shalako “dancer.” This should be changed to “Shalako kokko.” The clasp and slide on the back of the piece are the same as on SAR.1989-7-194, which was made by Edward Beuka. Mr. Seowtewa and Mr. Enote think this piece may also have been made by him.
