Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 2011 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 7”): The materials used are mother of pearl, fossilized coral, sugilite, and powdered jet mixed with glue. The beads are commercially manufactured and faceted. The black shapes below the Corn Maiden figures are dragonflies. The black in the carved lines is made of powdered jet mixed with glue. The artists are a husband and wife team and are members of a well-known jewelry making family at Zuni. Veronica Poblano is Jovanna’s mother, and Dylan Poblano is her brother (both are represented by pieces in IARC’s collection, SAR.2005-14-1and SAR.2005-15-1 respectively)
