Tribal Collection Review RemarksJim Enote and Octavius Seowtewa during collection review visit February 16 and 17, 2011 (Events Record “Collection Review: Zuni Tribe, Review 6”): Though the record says this is a Zuni piece, Mr. Seowtewa and Mr. Enote question whether Juan Pedro Garcia is a Zuni artist because Garcia is not a known Zuni surname. They suggested that the work may actually be that of a Zuni artist named David Tsikewa. The materials used are olivela heishi (probably commercially made), spiny oyster, coral, mother of pearl, and unknown black shell, and an unknown whitish/brownish shell (probably not cowry). One of the red birds has a broken tail.
