DescriptionPolychrome bowl; three-color; white slip with orange and brown (black) painted decoration. The design consists of repeating orange slpit traingles outlined in brown on the exterior. The interior has a white turtle connected to the bottom with a black triangle motif on its back. Three holes are cut out of the base of the bowl.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 11-13, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 6”): The participants noted the artist’s first name is Ernestine but now goes buy Tina and has gone back to using her maiden name, Garcia. She is the youngest daughter of Jessie Garcia. Stella Shutiva and Anita Lowden are her sisters. The holes at the base of this bowl may have been added to the deal with areas that were too thin and may have naturally crumbled during the polishing stage. There were some cracks in the bottom that the artist fixed before firing.
