DescriptionWhite slipped handmade ceramic turtle is decorated with an elaborate black line cross design on its shell.
Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit November 29-30, and December 1, 2016 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 7”): This turtle is handmade with traditional materials including the clay and paints. Not much more was said about this turtle.

According to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 22-24, 2018 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 11”: The artist Anita Lowden, passed in 1969. Donna Chino, her niece, stated that Anita often worked with her sister Sarah Garcia. Their works are very similar. This piece was likely made in the 1960’s.
