DescriptionThis multimedia painting appears to be a photomechanical print (or a sketch based upon a photograph) overlaid with oil paints with applied velum and ink decoupage on pressed masonite/wood panel. The subject matter on velum represents faux archaeological data relevant to pot-hunting. Renditions of undecorated pottery and shovels create the border of the painting; effigy vessels (likely Mexican in shape) are painted in black-on-white; two seated men appear in the mid-ground, while a white horse appears in the background. The men, horse, and black-on-white pottery appear to have been photomechanically transferred onto the masonite, then over-painted with oil. There are traces of mineral spirit drips througout the painted surface. The velum and ink decoupage applications appear at each of the four corners of the painting.
