Tribal Collection Review RemarksAccording to the participants in the Acoma collection review visit May 22-24, 2018 (Events Record “Collection Review: Acoma Pueblo Review 11”): This is a large loom that would be used for weaving large textiles such as a rug. Some of the participants, Pearl Valdo, Claudia Mitchell, and Lily Salvador, used to weave and were able to explain the different parts of the loom and how it would be set up for use. A picture was taken of the loom set up as if it were to be used.

Weaving of large textiles is no longer practiced at Acoma. Weaving of smaller textiles such as sash belts is still practiced.

We also looked at IAF.500 and IAF.499 at the same time as they are also parts of a loom.
