Jen Day's Collection
(Jen Day, Registrar, IARC) These are some of my favorite items in IARC's Zuni collection. We worked with cultural experts including Jim Enote, the former director of the A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Heritage Center and current CEO of the Colorado Plateau Foundation, and cultural leader Octavius Seowtewa from 2009 to 2015 on the Zuni Collection Review project, wherein we systematically examined and discussed each item in IARC's Zuni collection. We corrected inaccuracies in the records, added new information, assessed suitability for research and publication, and noted any special handling or storage recommendations. Having the opportunity to see all of the pieces up close, these 12 rose to the surface as some of my favorites. Some of them I like because they illustrate an important point we learned about during the reviews (IAF.1 and IAF.392), or because there was something interesting about the technique used to make them (IAF.T437 and SAR.2007-1-134), or just because I thought they were beautiful!
