Works by Beatien Yazz
One of the largest collections by a single artist at the IARC are works created by Navajo painter Beatien Yazz, also known as Jimmy Toddy. Born in 1928, Yazz was known for his close observations and depictions of the world around him. Throughout his career, he had a close relationship with Sallie Wagner and William Lippincott, traders at the Wide Ruins Trading Post, who championed and collected his work. A long-time board member and passionate supporter of SAR, Wagner donated 249 Yazz works to IARC over a period of 27 years, from 1978-2005.
